Solo Moderna Sonido Pouble UWR Video Trailer witch actually never made it or has been used since. Even without the video the EP has sold amazingly good on Soulseduction and Junodownload for instance and other dowloadsites but it's maybe worthwile to have a look because it is a typical video... There was of lot of work and effort into learning the pricipales of video editing, but maybe afterwards been overlooking the results witch have been more bearable during time and distance! UrbanWorld Records are very proud to provide you with yet another world mashup release produced and remixed by some of the most fantastic artists at the moment. Help us characterize these tracks by Solo Moderna, is it Cumbia with a little Ska, sprinkled with Balkan and topped with a bit of Swing icing? It doesn't help when the remixes by Farrapo, Dixone, Canalh and Second Sky & Thomas Blondet spend even wider and include reggaeton rythmns, moombahton, chucu chucu & balcumbia with a touch of afrobeat trumpet.

I could not say it better than Canalh after I asked him what he would characterize his remix as. His reply it really fits well with the whole release.
Leaving the coast cumbia lost a lot of rythmic complexity and was reduced to that characteristic "Tsssss tssss tsssssss" with the guacharaca or the guiro. Meeting industrial productions centers, especially Medellin, cumbia was everywhere. Chucu chucu is how they named the simplified cumbia spreading from the Colombian coast to the inner land. It was regarded as a kind of "depraved cumbia" by the traditional musicians of the coast. All what we, nu-cumbia producers, do in the XXIth century, is actually a kind of depraved chucu chucu, ha ha!! You see my remix got that "tsss tsss tsss" but there's no tambora, no llamador, no flauta de milo o gaita, etc. Chucu chucu. Canalh.
Some of you my think, Pouble? I will let Bas from Solo Moderna explain.
Pouble comes from the French junk or waistbin and refers to the hometown organization Poubelle where I'm mostly bying my vegetables but also instruments like waisted 10 euro guitars, drums, xylophones etc witch I have been using on Sonido Pouble. So in fact it's junk- or waistbin audio! Don't wanna use the exact name Poubelle as you understand it is a brandname, though referring is ok. I'm eclectic as hell as you now in music styles so I also wanna mix languages and create new meanings. Other thing is that the words, solo moderna, have the same more meanings but nobody complained yet haha, last reaction from a Spanish girl was, gourcious, but could be polite too!

Al Lindrum: Thomas Blondet in the Second Sky Remix is sublime in general an overall superb release keeping the high quality level. and the style of the release ??? ? i say it like this "It has a lot of Style" No limits..Possibilities of infinity
Dunkelbunt: Love it. All Solo Moderna originals are fantastic and the Dixone Remix is massive!

Bombay Boogie, a track from my album Boogalookalikes has been shortly used in a very funny comic NBC serie The Outsourced episode 14 of this year. Funny how album tracks find it way to all different parts of the world. Oompah Improvisations for instance was licenced on a compilation in Wupertall Germany called Viertalbar, Cha Cha Morali did Barcelona Spanish label Sambafrique and last but not least Crazy Beat ended up in Tokyo Japan on P Vine records as a special edition on the album but censored on the Japanese rap.. The accent was not ok and didn't match the metropolitan byers.. Instead you'll find some of my hysteric laughter and some background mumbering some will know..!! Also a bonustrack of good old Combo Moderna's Ghettostomp was added. A rare thing if you got a copy of this Japanese layouted edition. Luscious! Makala, or Mikel Unzurrungaza Schmitz as his mother calls him, surfer dude, music freak and all round good guy, hails from the picturesque Basque town of Zarautz. Let's get ready for some real electroswing here, by the name of The Correspondents, swing-hop duo, MC Mr Bruce and DJ/Producer Mr Chuckles, they collaborate to make Hip Hop for the 1930s, Big Band music for the 00s. "Splicing swing samples with squelchy synths over dusty drum loops they’ve depicted a modern day journey into time of rogue’s, lust, affordable clowns and foot-tapping toe curling "get your brogues on" dance floor swing beat" so their bio says. The track here goes by the name "A Wee Teaser..." a little loop of something Mr Chuckles is working on sans Monsieur Bruce (for the moment). Rather crunchy and unfinished it tells the splicing skills, it's really a rough and amazing peace and that's what we like here! Again we've got one, we wanna play again and again.. Looking forward to EP and album!

One of my all time favorites, UK DJ Graham B., residents in Amsterdam, Holland and now and then we´ve coincidentally meet in Sugar Factory and Paradiso for instance and in the past we also have been spinning together in Alkmaar, all Holland.. Graham B. produced a wunderfull track here in the jazz and breakbeat tradition called Walkin Sbace and will be included on a compilation called Fresh Out The Box this summer! Graham B.´s first solo album "No room For Chairs" released on London based Freestyle Records , he´s the man behind Jazz Juice and Electro Coco and has been doing some nice remixes for Praful, Flow Dynamics and Mo´Horizons! And currently he is one of the infamous gang of four at Amsterdam's Sugar Factory on a progressive Ecclectro night called DiscoCult! Based in France, a mistery, who are they? Where are they? And more particularly what are they? If you really wonder, these few lines won't be that useful... One quarter Cantonese, two thirds Manchou, appearing to be from the Wu Tang Mountain, not far from Marseille. In 2004 they decided to send his disciples around the world to spread the Zen spirit with old music samples and supersonic bass!
When I played the track "Artichaut" from Chinese Man lately the dancefloor went crazy, this scratching, 20s, hiphop tune gets you right where it needs to hit you right between the legs and dance dance.. The track is coming from Wagram´s Electro Swing compilation(there´s a second version out) and about these mistery Chinese man I absolutely had to know more and this it what I found.
Chinese Man broke out on the scene in 2005 with the release of its first EP, "The Pandi Groove EP" (500 units). In 2006 and 2007, “The Bunni Groove EP” and “The Indi Groove EP” are released (1.000 units) and quicly become a critical and commercial success despite their confidential release. Symbolic of the multiple influences of the crew, these first vinyls opened the way for instrumental hip-hop crafted with slices of funk, pinches of dub and a splash of traditional music.
On the menu of this new volume, Groove Sessions 2, solo Sly experiments, a detour into the underground and with some of the best MCs of the "Fresh Coast" there´s a new production of the trio Chinese Man!

A track I found recently called "Swing Mama" is coming from dj and producer Farrapo based in Bologna, Italy and is release number 12 in the Resense 7 inch only serie, on this Austrian label. A serie with contributions by The Captain(We will Rock You), Matenlo and Sono Rhizmo. Swing Mama is a remarkable style fuse of swing, DnB and rap and puts you right into dancemodus! Dj Farrapo earlier released on Irma Records and spinned records with djs like Paul Murphy, Rainer Truby and Buscemi to name a few and has his radioshow "Picanha Beats" hosted on Radio Pellenera and Radio Zerogravity. Still enjoying an early sunny day today in April with the track Fabregas by UK You&Me witch gives the perfect summerly forfeeling, so summer you can come now! Me&You is a project from TM Juke and Robert Luis, they joined together and last one is labelboss from UK label Tru Thoughts. The track here Fabregas is coming from their album, infact double CD "Music For Birthdays" witch is out a little while on Tru Thoughts with remixes, re-edits and re-versions of tracks covering hip hop, soul, afro, breakbeat, drum and bass, bollywood, jazz and disco, all with an eye to the modern ballroom. This one is a perfect combination of Latin and beat witch already has been filling dancefloors outthere I supose, this all in same tradition of style like Matenlo, Resense, Una Mas, the Mo´Ho´s, Fania Allstars and Boutique Chic to name a few! Would be nice to fill a whole evening with this latin craze! You can check a remix I´ve done for them from their first 7" The Hoop Loop and The Fixer remix got in Robert Luis charts of 2009 on Unfold radio. Just before Easter I want you to take a listen to one of the most talented remixers I´ve met more then a year ago in Munchen on his Jazz&Milk labelnight where I was as guestdj, Dusty, dj, producer, labelowner. With in his pack artists like Free The Robots, Romanovski, Mr. Chop and welknow Jazz&Milk Break compilations and his own Exotic Breed EP he puts himself right into bizness!
In this very fresh remix for Saffrolla Dusty decided to keep a few vocal snippets of the orginal and turn the remix into a swing version and it is! Digital release will be espected in May on Saffrolla's imprint!!

On this Dutch windy thursday there´s a fresh contribution by Isaac Peces from Spanish site www.acidjazzhispano.com, who I´ve met on facebook. He´s been doing a review about Irma La Douce!!

"La Douce Party is one of the most recognizable compilations within the releases of Irma Records/La Douce. The inspiration has been given by cocktail party type of music, TV series of the 50s, or easy listening music of the Italian dance halls. This leads to a combined product of nu-jazz, lounge and all kind of variations. So this third edition I think is the most varied collection and daring, of those published so far, although previous editions are essential too. The series have always been included with memorable tracks and remixes of notable performers like Robert Passera, Black Market Audio, Frank Popp Ensemble, Nicola Conte, DJ Rodriguez or Montefiori Cocktail. Here there´s little time for relaxation, served as a casual dance, full of contagious rhythms and grooves."

"The heterogeneity begins with perhaps the best piece of the album, the remix done by Dutchman Solo Moderna: The fixer, originally made by Acusmatic Group, results in a piece, most catchy, cinematic and funny, possibly the most important part of the compilation. Another track that is not far behind, Bengie vom friseur Frisch Jumping in a style of typical nu-jazz, rich of nuances and Latin references. Break the rythm to modern rock comes for Shiffers, who never would imagine to be on a compilation like this if not having brief electronic tickets for interesting pop, that could work perfectly as a soundtrack for any teenage number. Following the line to well known producer Max Sedgley, who has been including a remix for Aldo Vanucci, a character who has been the key in understanding new touches of breakbeat, soul and funk and presents Devil inside, black voices together with contagious beats. Issues to notice are the inclusion of Low Fidelity Jet Set Orchestra, with a groovy seventies motion and bossa-nova DJ Rodriguez at its most quietness, or issues with a surprising tittle like Puta, Masquenada Blade & Family, which, despite with ease the chorus is sung, it may be one of the most danceable tracks and afro-electronics of the compilation. Also note worthy is the housy Aaron Tesser & The New Jazz Affair, and when gradually closing the disc there´s another jazz house production and remix by Module 5, Focus on sight."

The successful club party of this saturday held in De Kring Amsterdam 'Kringtones' started one years ago and is an initiative launched by Ronald Linger aka Mulat and DJ M-Cécile. Ronald Linger has a long track record in the Amsterdam night life as a DJ but also as founder of initiatives Bongo Club, Tutti Frutti, Filth 'n Glory, LFTFLD and on March 9 this year he was co-organizer of the Bladenbal. Dj M-Cecile has also for years a familiar face in the Amsterdam night life and a versatile and much sought-after DJ. Many see the "Better" events and locations.
With "Kringtones' they know that a low threshold event is dropping music that can go in all directions. Diversity is the key as long as the quality of the music remains high. "A purist posturing but eclectic danceability" From latin to tribal, electro to breakbeat, house to techno to everything is possible. For each edition some guests will shape the concept. The upcoming edition will be extra festive because it is the first edition of this year.
